The Municipality of Central Manitoulin was created in 1998 with the amalgamation of the Township of Campbell, the Township of Carnarvon and the Township of Sandfield.
Geographically located along the Island’s southern shore, the Municipality of Central Manitoulin is indeed situated at “the heart of it all” on beautiful Manitoulin Island and offers many diverse attractions and unique landmarks. Treasure Island is a jewel set in the turquoise waters of Lake Mindemoya. The long sandy beach at Providence Bay features an accessible boardwalk, a huge playground, and the Harbour Centre. Lake Manitou is the largest and deepest lake on Manitoulin Island and is used year round for fishing, boating and snowmobiling. For more information on the various activities and attractions offered throughout the community, please visit our Welcome Centre or the Manitoulin Tourism Association.
