This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from https://taxsaleshub.ca (the “Site”). Tax Sales Hub is a Canadian business and this Policy is drafted primarily for Canadian users; it reflects our obligations under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Visitors from outside Canada may have additional rights under their local law; where that is the case, we will honour those rights to the extent applicable.
Protecting your private information is our priority. This Statement of Privacy applies to https://taxsaleshub.ca and governs data collection and usage. We have developed this policy in order for you to understand how we collect, use, communicate and make use of personal information. The following outlines our privacy policy.
Similar to other commercial websites, our website uses a standard technology called ‘cookies’ (see our cookies policy section below for more information) and server logs to collect information about how our Site is used. Information gathered through cookies and server logs may include the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, time spent on our Site, the websites visited just before and just after our own, and your IP address. See “What Information We Collect and Why” for the full list of technical data we log.
INTRODUCTION
This Policy sets out the conditions under which we may process any information that we collect from you, or that you provide to us. It covers information that could identify you (“personal information”) and information that could not. In the context of the law and this notice, “process” means collect, store, transfer, use or otherwise act on information.
-
We take seriously the protection of your privacy and confidentiality. We understand that all visitors to our website are entitled to know that their personal data will not be used for any purpose unintended by them, and will not accidentally fall into the hands of a third party.
-
Tax Sales Hub undertakes to preserve the confidentiality of all information you provide to us, and hope that you reciprocate.
-
Canadian law requires us to tell you about your rights and our obligations to you in regards to the processing and control of your personal data.
COLLECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Tax Sales Hub collects personally identifiable information when you register a member account, subscribe to notifications, or purchase a product or service on https://taxsaleshub.ca. We also collect technical information automatically on every visit to the Site — including your full (non‑anonymized) IP address, the user‑agent reported by your browser or HTTP client, the URLs you request, and, where you are signed in, an identifier for your member account — for security, fraud prevention, anti‑scraping, and service‑integrity purposes.
Tax Sales Hub encourages you to review the privacy statements of websites you choose to link to from Tax Sales Hub so that you can understand how those websites collect, use and share your information. We are not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on websites outside of the Tax Sales Hub website.
WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND WHY?
We may collect information about you directly from you, as well as automatically through your use of our Site or Services.
-
Information You Provide Directly: When you register a member account or purchase a product or service, we collect your name, email address, postal or delivery address, phone number (if provided), and payment details. You may also choose to provide additional information when contacting support.
-
Information We Collect Automatically on Every Request: On every request to our Site, we log your full IP address (not anonymized), the user‑agent string sent by your browser or HTTP client, the URL requested, the HTTP method, the date and time of the request, and — where you are signed in — an identifier for your member account and a cryptographic hash (SHA‑256) of your email address. We do not store the raw text of your email in the request log; only the hash, which cannot be reversed back to your email without already knowing it.
-
Usage and Device Information: We may also collect device type, language preferences, referring page, session identifiers, and the geographic region inferred from your IP address, through standard web‑analytics tooling (Microsoft Application Insights).
We use this information to operate the Site, deliver the products and subscriptions you purchase, diagnose outages, prevent fraud and credential‑stuffing attacks, and detect automated or unauthorized access to our content (see “Anti‑Scraping and Automated Access” below).
ANTI-SCRAPING AND AUTOMATED ACCESS
To protect the integrity of our listings and the substantial effort we invest in collecting and maintaining them, we automatically detect patterns of automated or unauthorized bulk access. Requests that match those patterns may be rate‑limited, challenged with an anti‑bot verification, served decoy content, or — where attributable to a member account — result in suspension of that account without refund.
Detection uses the technical information described above: your IP address, user‑agent, request patterns, geographic region inferred from your IP, and, where you are signed in, your member account. Decoy content is never served to verified search‑engine crawlers (Google, Bing) or to authenticated members in good standing.
If you believe your access has been mis‑classified, please contact support@taxsaleshub.ca and we will review promptly. You may also request a copy of the access logs that are attributable to your IP address, user‑agent, or member account.
DATA RETENTION
We retain the personal information you provide for as long as you hold an active member account with us, and for up to seven (7) years thereafter to satisfy tax and financial record‑keeping obligations under Canadian law.
Technical request logs (IP address, user‑agent, request URL, timestamps, member identifier, email hash) are retained for a maximum of 24 months for security, fraud‑prevention, and anti‑scraping purposes, after which they are automatically deleted. Records that evidence confirmed scraping, fraud, or account abuse may be retained longer where required for legal enforcement or the defence of a legal claim.
WE DO NOT SELL, RENT OR LEASE OUR CUSTOMER LISTS TO THIRD PARTIES.
Tax Sales Hub may share data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Tax Sales Hub, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
Tax Sales Hub will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Tax Sales Hub or the Site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Tax Sales Hub; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Tax Sales Hub, or the public.
