We are a growing municipality with the addition of the communities of Springhill and Parrsboro and we are proud to now provide municipal services and programs to approximately 20,000 residents. Cumberland County is bordered by the Province of New Brunswick, Colchester County, the Northumberland Strait, and the Bay of Fundy. Rivers, golf courses, mountains, oceans, and trails offer endless opportunities for recreational pursuits, and many fine dining opportunities are available throughout our municipality. The Joggins Fossil Institute, the Parrsboro Geological Museum, and Pugwash Thinkers Lodge offer wonderful educational opportunities for all ages.

The Municipality also has an abundance of renewable energy resources that are currently being developed as alternative energy opportunities. Tidal turbines supply power to residents in the community of Parrsboro, geothermal energy powers the Springhill Community Centre and several Springhill businesses, and wind turbines are supplying power to homes in the Amherst and surrounding area. Through the Cumberland Energy Authority, the Municipality of the County of Cumberland is setting the standard of leadership in local government for the development of renewable energy, support of the progressive energy industry, and the encouragement of a sustainable future for our communities.
